This Pond House is a retreat into nature. The pond anchors this contemporary two-story home within the wooded valley. The structure features a minimalist cast-in-place concrete structure with large glass windows, shielding and inviting views of the surrounding landscape. The home is positioned at the edge of a small pond, with a horizontal plane above the water's surface articulating the separation between building and nature. The project incorporates environmental considerations by including new restorative native wetland plants around the pond. This landscaping approach aids in shoreline stabilization and provides habitat for local wildlife of the Hudson Valley. The design seeks harmony with the natural environment by contrasting the geometry of the home with the organic pond.
